Popular Mughal, c.1600
Opaque watercolour on paper
5 x 7 in (12.7 x 17.8 cm)

REGISTERED ANTIQUITY-NON-EXPORTABLE

Provenance: Property of a Gentleman, Mumbai

This early folio is a fine example of the Popular Mughal School. The painting appears to be a scene from a narrative. Here, Brahma and Shiva stand to the left, and an entourage surrounds them to pay homage. The lines and facial features are delicate, and the colours used are vibrant.
